My name is Cody, and I’m a Fitness Expert. I also happen to be a young father, fiancé, and all around family man. I’ve accumulated a wealth of knowledge in regards to exercise and nutrition, and I’ve served as a Personal Trainer for 5 years now.
I was obese from my early elementary days up until midway through high school. My family’s culture was food. It’s your birthday? Let’s eat. A’s on the report card? Let’s eat. Got that new job you’ve been working for? Let’s eat. I’m a foodie to say the least, and I’ll always be working to stay lean. I’m far from naturally skinny.
I got incredibly skinny, about 130 pounds from roughly 220 lbs. I then decided I should start learning exercise. After a year I told myself I wanted to bench press 315 my senior year of high school, and I did. I then turned my attention to learning bodybuilding, and how they piece together their workouts. I decided it wasn’t for me, so I turned my attention to powerlifting. After peaking out at a 3 lift total of 1140 @163 lbs, the nagging pains got to me. I figured I should learn to use my genetic gifts and focus on getting super athletic, and I did. I wanted to learn some martial arts striking, and boxing techniques, so I taught myself. I thought, “what’s the point of all of this if I’m not functional?” So I learned the functionalities of the human body, and movements that trained them. I figured if I could do all of this with some sort of equipment, what could I do with none? And I learned some calisthenics. Somewhere along the way I snapped my collarbone like a twig, and as a result I now have a plate and seven screws of hardware in my right shoulder. I also herniated 3 discs in my lumbar spine, and 1 in my cervical spine. I’ve worked around it all, and I’ve objectively tried to learn as much as I can about my body, and the human body in general.
In the Summer of 2016, my daughter Laney was born. In the time since my workouts have been arbitrarily pieced together, I’ve recently introduced Puffs baby snacks into my no longer meal-prepped diet, my sleeping pattern is everything I tell my clients to avoid, and yet I’m as Fit-obsessed as ever. The epiphany then pelted me in the face like my daughter chucking her plastic cell phone at me…I’m here for the families like mine, that just aren’t fortunate enough to be pestered with my you-know-better-than-that expertise in home!
I’m here to educate on health & fitness, entertain from my family man standpoint on the fitness industry, and provide insight on the tribulations of not just staying fit, but progressing my fitness all while embracing parenthood. You’ll see topics ranging from fat loss workouts while babysitting, to nutrient dense diets for you & your offspring, good ol’ deadlift cues for you, & squat form comparison between you & your toddler.
